"THE WAYS OF WIND": A run to the millennarian culture of West Bengal - INDIA

Sounds, colours and visions of a land preserving traditions,usages and customs of over five thousands years ago.

The arrive in Europe of the Baul Mastersinger Narayan Chandra Adhikary has given the idea of the realization of a cultural project comprehending a concert of traditional Baul music and a series of activities giving a more complete picture about this fascinating culture, about indian live and worm people, about indian mystic and bright land. So it is proposed a project with the following activities:

WORKSHOP: approach to the traditional musical instruments of the Baul of Bengal.

DOTARA: a long-necked instrument with four strings similar to a little lute.
EKTARA: basic istrument with one string.
KHAMAK: percussion and string instrument.
COROTAL:indian cymbals.
DUBKI:little drum with one membrane.

EXIBITION of MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS of Baul of Bengal.

A collection of various mucical instruments of the tradition of Baul of Bengal.

EXIBITION of PHOTOGRAPHS “Aroma of Bengal” by Pravash Das.

A collection of pictures about the daily simple life and tribal tradition of West Bengal already exposed at Accademy of Fine Arts and National Trade Fare of Calcutta.

PROJECTION of Antropological documentary films from West Bengal

Pietro Silvestri, freelance documentarist, is leaving from about 5 years with a Baul of Bengal community. He comes from different artistic experiences, theatre, music, visual research and he realised in his wandering among little Indian villages social and anthropological docementaries.

A series of documentary films about rituals and tribal culture of West Bengal:
-”Mongla’s Marriage” the rite of marriage in Santali Tribe.
-”Horibolò” rite of prayer and pilgrimage of the comunity of Harichaders.
The videos are presented by the author Pietro Silvestri.

CONCERT “The music of the heart”.

Songs, dances and music of the Baul of Bengal, featuring Mastersinger Narayan Chandra Adhikary Baul.

For the realization of this project it needs the customer provide free usage of: 1 VHS videorecorder (Pal); 1 videoprojector high brightness with amplification system, screen, cables and all necessary for the working; rooms for the preparation of exibition and projection.
